Star Export House status grants institutional credibility plus operational privileges to Indian exporters. Awarded from One Star to Five Star for export performance, it serves as the credential buyers verify, bankers value and customs rewards with quicker treatment.
The thresholds
Status derives from export performance across the present financial year plus the three before it. Entry begins at a modest single-digit crore turnover — attainable for committed SME exporters — climbing into the thousands of crores at the Five Star tier. Service exporters track parallel slabs in foreign-exchange earnings.
Double weightage: the lever most miss
MSME-manufacturer exports, plus green-technology and select priority-product exports, count double their FOB value toward status. A ₹12 crore MSME exporter may qualify backed by ₹24 crore of weighted performance — a full star over the unweighted maths. Rebuilding four years with each weightage applied sits at the heart of our status practice.
What status holders receive
- Preferential customs clearance with lighter examination across ports.
- Freedom from bank guarantees across EPCG, Advance Authorisation and beyond.
- Self-certification covering origin and export documents.
- Preferential handling across drawback, refund and licence processing.
Validity and renewal
Status certificates run five-year validity terms with performance strings attached. We monitor each client's validity period, refresh turnover statements yearly, and lodge renewals ahead of expiry — since lapsed status forfeits every privilege above overnight.
